Leading Innovation in Partnerships: Lessons Learned from San Antonio, TX

This session will present two case studies in how communities are innovating around partnerships to extend installation support and push the envelope on what is possible between local governments and the military. Port San Antonio, TX will present its response to the Air Force’s Strategic Real Estate Opportunity Request for Information on Joint Base San Antonio, including how they are exploring a wide range of existing authorities to propose efforts as varied as the development of a new headquarters for 16th Air Force, building a new child development center to serve both the military and private industrial base, and restoring the parade ground on JBSA-Lackland AFB. MCB Quantico, VA will update attendees on the outstanding results they enjoy in land use compatibility planning supported by the REPI program, and a new energy initiative identified through OLDCC grants.
