Understanding the Current UAS Policy Environment and the Challenges and Opportunities for Communities & States
DeAnza I
Recent drone attacks to flightlines of unsuspecting Russian military bases underscore a rapidly evolving threat to U.S. military installations and defense communities, which are increasingly vulnerable to adversarial surveillance, disruption, cyber and kinetic attacks that exploit gaps in current perimeter defenses, airspace control, and security. Base commanders must urgently enhance collaboration with defense communities and local agencies to assess vulnerabilities, react to threat intelligence, detect anomalies, and counter adversary capabilities with integrated threat mitigation strategies. This includes responding to nation-state cyber threats to defense critical infrastructure, including China’s Typhoon series and Russia’s water system attacks. This panel will bring together technology, community, and installation experts to discuss efforts underway to establish a digitally integrated regional resilient ecosystem for installations and defense communities against a full range of emerging threats that will protect the safety of local citizens and the operation of military missions.
